Blisters often form on the feet as a defense against damage to the skin. They take the form of fluid filled sacs on the outer layer of the skin of the feet, often developing in response to excess friction. Most commonly, blisters form because of ill-fitting footwear rubbing against the skin. However, if your blister breaks, you should wash the area with soap and water immediately and then apply a bandage to the affected area.
